Life can move quite fast in the blink of an eye and before you know it, you realize that it's been weeks (or even months) from having a good conversation with your bestest pals.  I realized in the last couple of months, that I really need to start moving "friend time" up on my priority list.  And this is what I have been doing to make sure that happens.

Utilize digital catch-ups

Nothing is better than a nice movie night in or getting pedicures with the girls, but sometimes that just doesn't happen (or at least not as often as I would like).  One way we keep in contact is a group chat in iMessage.  We always send each other memes, talk about something that happened that day, pictures, etc.  It's not every day, but that's one of the ways that makes it so special!

Focus on friendships that truly matter

Having true friends that you can rely on for support and advice is one of the best feelings ever.  One of the best advice I have is to focus on the friendships that better both of your lives.  If it makes you exhausted and feel bad about yourself, those are not the right people you should have in your life.  Cut that negativity out of your life!

Accept that plans change happens.  Sometimes things come up that cannot be avoided, but I have found such great friends that are so understanding when something gets in the way of a catch-up, but we always make sure to reschedule as soon as we are able to.  Two of my closest friends work in the health/medical profession and so they need to be on call pretty much all the time and they work such strange hours sometimes it's so hard to plan, and change of plans is something we just have to plan for if something comes up.
