To put it simply, this week has been weird.  Weird for a lot of different reasons.  Let me start at the beginning.  Monday of this past week.  We were headed to the Mall of America at about 10 am.  Driving the car about 3 minutes away from home, when my dad pulls over saying that the car is not going into the net gear.  Now, I don't know much about how cars work but I know when a car speeds up the engine goes into different gears depending on how hard it has to work (like a bike does).  This is not good and often means that the transmission is broken.  Luckily we were only 3 minutes from home, so my dad put the hazard lights on and slowly drove home.  We ended up taking our other vehicle to the mall, so we got there in case anyone was concerned about that.

We had been talking about getting a "new" car for months, but had never really been actively looking.  The fact that the car transmission went out really put a fire under our butts.  We stopped by the car dealer on the way home from the mall.  We probably spent 3 hours looking at all the different cars, and found one that we wanted to check out.  We picked it up the next day, test drove it over the next couple of days, and ended up buying it.  I actually think I want to do a video/blogpost about advice for buying a car because it is SOOOO much money and you want to be as educated about the process of car buying to make the best decisions.  I feel like I've learned a lot through my own experience that I want to share with you, if you are interested.

Later that night, we finally arrived home only to find out that the air conditioner was not working.  It was only blowing the hot, outside air into the house.  Great.  We called the repair man and they were out to our house that morning.  Luckily, it was only a little broken part that was easy to fix, but he told us that the hot water heater's pipes were extremely corroded and it needed to be fixed ASAP.  Maybe it was a blessing in disguise because the relatively small thing (broken air conditioner part) led to the discovery of a bigger problem (the corroded water pipes).  Luckily, that is all taken care of now and the plumber is coming out here this week.

Then last night we went to the movies and saw Kubo and the Two Strings. As we were leaving the theater and heading back to the van, the van wouldn't start.  NOT ANOTHER VEHICLE PROBLEM.  Honestly, at this point I am so over vehicles and their problems.  Thankfully, we had roadside assistance to the insurance plan because they sent a tow truck to jump start the battery.

Everything is good now, but man, what a weird week.  It seems like everything was going wrong and it cause a lot of unwanted stress, but at the end of the day, it could have been a lot worse.  I choose to be optimistic about this whole situation.

Hope you've all had a better week. x
